I'm sorry...I should have realized to open a thread like this sooner.

It looks like many people are not sure what to do with their page, so everyone just post what they you with your page and I'll add them all to this post. Talk about how you designed your page, what kind of things you said and etc.

This is alanamra's page and you don't have to format your page exactly like hers, but maybe this will turn the lightbulb on in your head!

Ideas of Things to Put on Your Page

Letter: You can write about how alan's music effects you, how her music has changed you, how you collect her CDs/magazines/etc, things you appreciate about her, any special events in your life that involved her music, things you and alan have in common, things you would love for her to do in the future (concert in USA!), the first song you heard from her, how you converted your friends to alan fans

Photos/pictures: Photos of your alan collection, you WITH your alan collection, you kissing a copy of Voice of Earth (okay I'm going too far).. photo of you, you and your friends (who like alan?), your pet, alan posters, alan projects (drawings or paintings or figurines?!), scenery in your hometown/around your house

Lists: favorite alan songs, favorite albums/singles, favorite music videos, reasons you love alan

Other: ???

Everyone please think of more ideas for this list lol :)


Helpful Design Tips

For scanning handwriting and importing to PS: I hand-wrote the letter and most of the drawing in black ink on white paper. In Photoshop I set those layers to "Darker Color" so the white part would be transparent and only the dark letters would show, then I put them over the background papers I found online. This way, you can have your writing on fancy-design paper if you want!

Cool fonts: DaFont has everything you will need!

Drop Shadow layer style makes realistic looking decorations. You can set drop shadow on a layer by double clicking it in PS and clicking the Drop Shadow checkbox (and you can also edit the shadow settings.)

I will help you in any way I can! Whether it's helping you find materials for your page, design ideas, or even editing it myself because you can't figure something out, I will try my best!

I found many of the accessories and textures on the page at DeviantArt. If you want a scrapbook-style like mine (I was totally inspired by cover #6 that lost lol so I just had to do it) then it would be good to check the Scrapbooking section of DeviantArt.

haha cos I think even though we all know that it's the thought that counts and alan won't mind if it's plain... but we still want it to look really nice and pretty when she gets it

Mine looks really plain in comparison XD;;

O so you have to make and write on pages instead using computer...what about on publisher or PowerPoint and then you can print yourself? lol

^ some people are handwriting it and some are typing it on a computer

Since we're printing in color, a regular printer won't print HQ enough pages, so that's why we're going to a professional printer.
Have you ever tried printing a whole page in color with your printer? The paper quality isn't good enough either.

Omg the pages look beautiful! :O i was going to add a drawing of alan to there alone (to my page) and write something quite shortly, but after seeing so heartwarming messages and pretty pages i feel like i should add more into it even tho drawing that portrait took me a whole week haha XD but designing it is really fun :) !

Hey everyone. I made mine and I'm still doing little things to make it better, but here it is. I didn't know about this fanbook thing until a few days ago, so I made this today.
