Ok, I'm in the 'alan lover' mood right now, so please forgive me

I just love alan so much! I just realized, she is the perfect pop-star... She couldn't be more beautiful, her voice is SO unique, and she performs her songs as well if not better live (even when she has a fever...!) I guess some people might think a pop-star should dance more, but that isn't something I care about. If Ayu still sang the way she did before she went deaf in one ear, then maybe I could say Ayu is the best all-around pop-star, however, even then she couldn't sing in 4 different languages. Right now, it's Queen alan for me. Right now I just can't think of anyone who can compare.

(By the way, I'm just listing Japanese artists, but anyone you can think of is fine!)

I discovered alan when she had her debut, but I was Ayu-crazy back then, so I was just like "wow...this girl is good" and that's it. After a while like around the time of Sora Uta, I really got into alan and as my love for alan grew, my love for Ayu just went away. It's not like alan was better than Ayu, but I was at a time in my life where I didn't need Ayu's music anymore.

I've always thought of alan as a goddess
Everything about her music is just perfect. Sometimes I think my love for her isn't a fandom, but more like a religion. When I started to translate her blogs and started to learn more about her feelings, I just really fell in love.
Whenever she sings, I just feel her heart and soul. She's not just a pop singer to me because she is a true artist. She composes, write lyrics even when she didn't have a complete grasp on the language and she's sweet and caring towards her fan. How can you not love this woman?
She's not afraid of showing her true side to her fans...How many artists do you see basically telling their haters to "get your nose out of my business"? Lol
I just love that true all of the hard times that she is still able to smile and keep hoping to sing songs that will bring us happiness.

So now, I can't ever compare alan with any other artists because she's just in a category by herself. I was scared because my Ayu fandom lasted 2 years, but my alan fandom has lasted 4 years and it's still going
And with Twitter and Weibo...I've gotten so much closer to alan, so I don't think I will ever outgrow my alan religion

I knew alan in 2009, when one friend show me her single Megumi no ame, I love her B-Side Namida and I love her voice and her music style, later i searched her 5 elemental singles project and fall in love with Sora Uta and RED CLIFF.

My top 2 Fandom was Ayu and KOKIA, but when knowing all about her feelings and her habits and idealism, now my top 2 is Ayu and alan. Maybe my heart feel more identified with ayu, but alan represent all the inocence and my peacefull side of myself.

Alan is the most natural artist that I know, she knows how show her feelings with so emotional rhytms, her music is so easy for understand, and you can feel that any song can represent a moment of your life and Listening it anytime without feeling bored. I don´t think that alan makes some songs only for win money, she give all her heart for express herself!

i know alan when she released " 群青の谷 " , back then i'm truly fans of ayumi hamasaki since 15 years old, but now ayu song feel different, then 2010 bcos of "God Eater PSP Game" i'm addicted to -Over the Cloud- and collecting alan songs. feel to need more, i start collecting PV's, and and watch her live concert without accidentally have more than 8++ times played it in 2 days. she sing beautifully. I tell my friend that r member this forum too ("Dust") about her, and he accept it without complain, now he melted when see alan photo on twitter XD..

And thats the story, she changed my life, she is the best for me! -you reach the fans heart with different style~

I think she is cute/hot compared to most artist that I Know hahah

But As a Fan I'm seem to be more connected with her, through reading her twitter, blog and visiting this website which I don't usually do with other artist.You can say that She has this special voice that strike me in the heart every time I listen to her songs. Also, Alan offer a very unique voice that stand out more then other artist that I find interest in, She have this traditional Tibetan voice that show her character and is able to execute a modern feeling to it as compared to other artist, I mostly find then to be all in a very general pool of music, but that just me. Overall I have gain a love for her character, and her beauty over the past years, but that just an extra icing to what She already offer; a unique voice of its own. Praise the moon goddess .

She is unique, Ashita e no sanka was like a big shock-wave to me, it gave me goosebumps since the very first time I listened to it. It doesn't happen very often really, it showed me how special she was and that I just had to find out more about her.

I don't think there are artists out there like her at all, but I think there's a problem.


First of all, I don't think people realize how much potential she has, maybe AVEX did in first place, when they found her and brought her into Japan without knowing Japanese, and put her against these big titans of the industry.

But the audience, I just don't understand if it's the cultural barrier that turned them off (alan being Chinese, her accent when she sings or speaks, her limited knowledge of the language), or her music was not mainstream enough, I don't know.

So because of this, AVEX and their stupid decisions, pushed her away from her roots (This is how I see it btw, my personal interpretation, it doesn't have to be it), and they NEVER AGAIN did anything as amazing and epic as Ashita e no sanka, even though they did go back with gunjou no tani, and a couple of other songs, they still tried to push her into mainstream by making her to turn into mainstream, if that makes sense.

I really don't think alan herself knows how much potential she has, and she is perhaps too young to know who she really is and what kind of artist she wants to be. I remember she said she wanted to be a pop singer, but pop is suuuuuuchhh a wide genre, and she's lost somewhere in the middle. But this is normal, no one knows who they really are at such a young age, I don't even know what I'm going to do with myself too, so yeah.

But you know what, she's done amazing things, and she should be proud of it, she gained so much and now she has options, she can compare things and take decisions and all, she's really not lost her time.

As an artist, I think she's been really lucky or luckier than others, because she gets to go back and check on everything she's done until now, and she can start again wherever she wants, in China, in Taiwan, in Japan, and so on.

I'm sure that someday, she'll fulfill her dream, and sing to thousands of people or even millions, and they'll feel the same goosebumps I felt the first time I heard her voice. She'll become that living Goddess that she deserves to be.

I think I dont know any artist that can be compared with alan, not 'cause I think alan is better or any other is worse, its just because alan is so unique.

That was the reason why I started following her at the first place. She was never my favorite artist, ayu is. I was always like, something between a casual listener and a fan. She's in my top 3 or top 5.

When she just started and in Voice of Earth era she was my second, right after ayu, but her second album I needed time to love so I wasnt very connected to her as I was just when she started. And now when she started to releasing singles I love to death she moves to china and I dont know what will happen but I truly admire her and respect her because of her personality. She sure has a perfect voice but I wouldnt care for her talent if there wasnt her personality which made me more of a fan, not just a casual listener.

What made me just a fan, not a hardcore fan or so to say reason why she's not my number 1 artist is that her songs are not... diary like (only some are), down to earth like, everyday life like, street like, poor life like (lol), I listen to her songs when Im in a dreamy mood, like when I just wake up or when I go to sleep or when I need to cry my heart out how world is unfair. She's not like 'this boy is cheating on me' and stuff like that, she's like 'make a world better place', thats why I need a special mood for her music. which is not bad, I dont want her to change.

I just wanted to post reasons why I feel the way I feel.

Lately I've been thinking that Taylor Swift is like an American alan.

I have my fair share of K-Pop artists which I like for a different part. So each of them and alan has a special place in my heart for different reasons.

It's natural for anyone to defend the artists they like. I won't compare alan to other artists. An artist is an artist each with their unique touch on it. I admire alan because she is alan and not because she is better than someone else. If you get my point ( :

It took me a while before I gave alan a try. But I guess somewhere in 2010 I really became a fan of alan. Her vocals just captivate me. That tonality is unique, pure and gentle. They just embrace you. Ah hard to describe! But I have always got myself attracted to female soprano's. Tsuki ga Watashi intro is an example.

Lately I just came to realize how good "Voice of Earth" is. So I'm glad I bought myself some CD's of alan when I was in HK last year during Christmas. alan's music somehow always portray a different dimension when I close my eyes with her soothing vocals carrying me. Like I'm not at earth anymore. Ah yes as a student I spend quite a fortune on audio equipment from my hard earned money. My [ Anedio D1 DAC + Audio Technica ATH-W1000X "Grandioso" ] still serves me well. But my ultimate wish is to hear alan live. That'd be priceless.

I also like alan probably because she's not just something for the masses. But for those specific people who have specific tastes. Her vocals somehow also give me a taste of the past. Like I'm hearing some history. Like alan is the bridge to our present days.

Haha much abtract stuff here. I ran out of words to describe what I feel for alan. But I'll show my support to alan in many ways whenever possible. That's what counts! 阿兰 <3

I've been trying to reply in this thread since yesterday and found myself is totally stupid at describing things through words lol

I have another musicians that I've been like since eight years ago (no, not ayu ^^;; ) and I still like them until now, but even it's only three years, alan will always get a same special place in my heart.
Just as what some people here had said, every artist has their own uniqueness and I can't compare alan to another artist that I love. As I said good things about alan and praise her, I will try to treat the others in same way.
I believe real musicians do their music not for competition 'who's the best, who's better than who' thingy, but more because they love music and they want to be heard by people that also love music.

alan's voice is undeniably amazing, one of the finest I've ever heard IMO, the erhu she played fascinates me, and her down to earth personality, everything about her just made me fall in love since the very beginning I knew alan. I think this girl is really beautiful but doesn't lack of talents.

I'm always hoping the best for her career, even if she's back to China or wherever, the most important thing for me now is she won't give up and keep on singing, coz I can't stop listen to her beautiful voice :)

Alan is best!!!!! I hear her when Red Cliff movie....wow!
