When you guys first listened to an alan song with wailing, did it scare/surprise you a bit?
My first alan song was Ashita e no Sanka and I came across a person's Myspace and I listened to their profile song and at first I was just like "oh the melody is really nice" and when the first chorus kick in, I was like "OMG" and then it settled down for a bit...I was quite shocked and towards the end where alan does the biggest wail, I almost fell out of my chair XD
So yeah, my first time listening to her wails was really surprising for me lol (but in a good way!)

Same here, the 1st time I listened to Ashita e no sanka, it simply took my breath my away. I was literally speechless. When she finally went "..no SAAANKAAA", my back straightened up and I was like, "Man, I just found the best singer in the world *___*" lol And this is nothing compared to what I felt when later I came across 天路 (Tian Lu). I just can't comprehend how some people are totally insensitive to the Tibetan wails.. I'll never get over the flop of the single. Well hey, well mainstream happens.

RED CLIFF was the first 'wail-included' song I heard. I was really surprised XD I loved the song, but I wasn't sure whether I liked the wail to be honest. But then I heard Ashita e no Sanka and I fell in love with her wails

the first song I listened to was ashita e no sanka, and I guess in a way, I was really surprised. But I think I was more suprised by the way that the tibetan wail is incorporated into the songs, rather than the wail itself (I guess since most chinese would have heard the tibetan wail before). Like I think the whole song would lose its feel if the high notes were sang with just normal high notes, if that makes sense.
To me the tibetan wail has a really ancient and ... organic (for lack of better word :p) feel to it, and I used to only hear it in chinese folk songs, like qing zang gao yuan. so it's really amazing the way the wails are included in her songs, like in natsukashii mirai, which is a really modern song, but the wail sounds so appropriate and really adds to the whole feel
that's also why I think its such a pity that the wail was cut out from the chinese versions of red cliff and kuon no kawa.
hehe I think I'm going off-topic here

yeah, because when I first listened to her she was completely unknown so no one could actually warn me (lol) and she looks really tiny, young and cute. you wouldnt expect anything from this cute girl and when I heard her sing I was like... 'man she sounds so mature'. I was completely blown away.

Yes, I wasn't expecting it
It did surprise me, but not in a bad way at all! I heard her Tibetan wail for the first time while listening to "RED CLIFF" and was all like: "OH WOW! This sounds beautiful! What is this? Her voice sounds sooooo awesome!"
Let's just say I had a lot of feelings in this moment!
I really love alan's Tibetan wails, because they always send shivers up and down my spin.

I was very surprised. I think the first song I heard from Alan was a Hymn for Tomorrow (Ashita no sanka??) in Japanese and I had the tenacity to think her voice was really average...until the wail hahaha.

It did!
Before knowing Alan, that time, I've been listening to purely J-rock. When I decided to check out more artists, I saw Alan on youtube with the song: RED CLIFF ~Shin.Sen~. When I heard the wail, I thought... no way, she couldn't sing that high.
So I checked out the song Ashita e no sanka with the volume on full blast, I jumped up in surprised. Ahaha! And after that, I've been addicted to her tibetan wails. Yeah, obviously I love the interlude song: Tennyo.

Yeah My first listen of alan was from her singing at MUSIC Bank, the song True Colours with Kana Nishino, miwa, Leona Lewis.
I was captivated by her looks and the way she was able to play that erhu. I found her English intriguing which led me to youtube her. at first it was hard because "alan" is a guys name lol
But I then found Ashita e no sanka and yes omg eargasm.

I want a full album of this... She said in an interview last month that if the company agrees, she'll release a Tibetan album.

^ Seriously? Oh my gosh... That would be a dream come true.
I first heard Sora Uta, I think... I thought that her voice was average and that it was a decent song. When I heard Ashita, at first I was like "ouch" and "what just happened?" I didn't like it. Then I heard Gunjou no Tani with the more subtly included wailing and liked her a bit more. Next day I thought of her again and listened again, and I realized "wow, I really like this!" (I am always critical of songs when I first listen.)

at 11:50, the host asks : In the future, will you make a Tibetan album ? She answers : I've already thought about it, the company should accept, if the company approves I accept to make a Tibetan album, I hope everybody will support. (sorry, I'm not good at translating, haha)
That sounds pretty optimistic to me

But Han Hong is very popular, and many Tibetan / Inner Mongolian singers are so popular in China... If alan'd release a Tibetan album, I don't think it would be a full album, more like an EP or sth, well I think it would be a really nice project.

I feel the same way as 3000 smiles, since I also discovered alan during her Japanese debut. I haven't heard the 'wail' incorporated into a pop song in such a way before and was totally not expecting it in JPOP lol!!! To make it instant love was that she did it sooooooo well and even during the live show. Instant fan just like that after those seconds of hearing it, started to google google google.
I would also LOVE a Tibetian album but I hope it will not become political etc. Prays for more wailing! (^.^)
I discovered alan through the tibetan wails. I was searching "tibetan wail" in Google and alan's name appeared several times. When I first listened to "Ashita e no sanka" I almost fell out of my chair (ok, no, but you know). I didn't expected something that beautiful.
A tibetan album? That would be great! I hope the company accept.
