So since everyone (or....some of you) have heard the full song...what do you guys think?

I think alan is still too much in her shell~ I would have loved to see her sing this with more power. She's still too reserved.
But the melody is good and I loved the beginning! I would have to loved for that dark theme to continue instead of the Chinese-styled flute coming in

But if this is the style her album is going, I'm happy! I would love to see alan challenge more genres!

I think it's a solid song. In terms of alan's singing, I love the softer verses;but I'll agree with you, Pommy, that come the chorus, it would've been nice to hear more power behind her vocals there. Great melody, and I always love the use of Chinese traditional instruments, in particular the one instrument that sounds like a pipa (or one of the various plucked Chinese lutes or zithers).

Indeed, if this song is any indication as to what the sound of her next album is going to be like, we're all in for a treat. :)

Yes ! my first impression is much better than with Feng Huang, I don't have much to say, I'm playing it on loop :)

I really like the verses, but I don't think the chorus goes well with them. Like it's too abrupt and musically it fits kind of strangely imo.

Haha the chorus really doesn't fit...so that's why I would have love to see the song revolve around the chorus instead

Anyway i love the flute and the verses, and her voice is so beautiful.
So much better than Phoenix imo.

Yeah I like the verses and the choruses separately, but not together. But it's great to see her composing things now. And I like the flute too.

This is such a nice song, for being one of her first attempts!
I'm so happy alan is starting to wriite her own lyrics and compose her own melodies, because she doesn't only have an unearthly beautiful voice, she's got such a fine personality that it would be a shame not to express it somehow in her music! =3
I really hope she continues and tries more!

I have to agree with some of the others about the schism between the chorus and the verses, but overall I really like the song, and it makes it even better that alan wrote the lyrics and composed it. Definitely looking forward to her new album (not that I wasn't before or anything lol...) :D
