Show "music is my life""The title of the album (my life) represent life, how to survive, and attitudes toward life, but it's also not a very heavy theme, and I want to show that music is my life. There are 14 tracks with very different stories. My first album (Voice of EARTH) talked about love and peace as the theme with soft ballads and folk-styled songs. The theme this time is also the same, but it includes more pop and R&B styled songs, so everyone can enjoy all different styles of music."
(Nobody knows but me) First time writing lyrics and composing"I have a piano in my Japanese apartment and I'm using it to create songs. During a busy time, I would just drag my body home and spend the rest of the day composing, so when I'm composing, I forget all about my tiredness and my eyes would start to shine again and just don't want to rest. I never wrote lyrics before, but I thought a lot about composing this time and after talking with Mr. Kazuhito Kikuchi, I challenged myself to write the lyrics. Since I didn't have the experience of writing lyrics, it was very hard to write them. The same with composing, my mind would have a sudden flash and that's when I have inspiration. I can usually finish a song in a day or 10 minutes, but if I don't have inspiration, I can write anything out. It's not just music, but to me, it's better to let things flow naturally instead of forcing myself to do certain things."
I really love all the songs!"Overall, I really love every song. Even if it's (One), (my life) or even (Mitsumeteitai), I really love them all. I hope that everyone will too. (Shiroi Tsubasa) is especially sang for those living in Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, New York...and other large cities. It's for people that are too busy to have freedom, but they crave freedom at the same time, it's a very pleasant song. (my life) have lyrics like "don't forget about my singing voice", and it gives a feeling of goodbye, and yet it's the epitome of the album. I won't say goodbye, alan will keep on singing on (laugh). When I'm performing it live, I will use a special singing technique that I learned in college, so please pay attention to it. Lastly (Essence of me) is a rewrite of the remix version. When I first heard it, I was surprised. Also, the details are still kept secret, but this song will be the theme song of an animated movie premiering this year."
Were you affected by your mother to become a singer?"I'm Tibetan, so I carry my mother's shadow. I started to learn the piano and erhu when I was little. I kept on wishing to be a singer, but I also considered other career options. It was after being accepted into the College of the Arts Department of the People's Liberation Army, then did I start to study music and instruments from Monday to Friday."
Had a relaxed state of mind when passing the singing exam"Being able to develop in Japan is the prize for Avex's singing exam. I thought about developing as a singer in China and didn't especially want to debut in Japan. I accepted the exam by thinking that I just want to sing. Other than hoping that I'll pass, I was more interested in hearing the producers and professional musician's opinions on my singing. I didn't think that I'll pass, then I met my current producer and the CEO and decided to develop in Japan. It was purely accidental."
Then I'm in Japan"Before debuting, I had the state of mind that I'm just going to vacation in Japan. Japan have a lot of cute things, it was enough to satisfy my shopping addiction. After graduating from college, I really needed to become more independent, but I felt it was very hard. The hardest thing was language, I didn't know how to speak Japanese, so I couldn't buy things when I went to convenience stores. My friends weren't beside me, so I was very lonely. I had to depend on myself when cleaning and other things. It was like this and 3 months before my debut, I would get up early to learn Japanese. I learn dancing and music in the morning, but I also had to go to the recording studio to record, and I lived every day like this. After debuting, I had more interviews and photoshoots, so it was very fresh to me in the beginning, but I still wasn't used to it. I would sometimes call friends and just blow off some steam. I was scared that my parents would worry, so I would lie and say that "everything is fine". After half a year, there was no problem and I really feel like everyday is enriching."
Things I want to tell people developing in Japan"Even though there are times when it's hard, when it's lonely, but you must have confidence and keep on working hard. I'm singing songs of love and peace for my dream, I want to connect China, Japan, and other Asian countries, so that's why I work so hard, so let us work hard together then."
SourceIt's interviews like this that make me love alan even more!
