alan is....stunning, perfect, gorgeous, flawless, etc, but none of you needed me to tell you that. xD She gets prettier every time I see her!
I was worried about today's event for a while because it started raining really hard about an hour before she was due to come on, and they told us we would have to put our umbrellas away during the performance, and I was wearing a shirt that becomes quite see-through when wet. :O Very close call! (Thankfully, it stopped raining shortly before she got there, and I had nothing to worry about.)
I'd been to an event like today's once before-- it took place at Rezona, which is essentially a big shopping mall, in Kawasaki (a city just outside Tokyo...about 25 minutes by train from Tokyo Station.) There's a large courtyard in the middle and that's where they have a stage set up for special events. The way it works is, anyone can come and watch the live performance, but if you buy the CD that's being promoted at the HMV location inside Rezona, you get a participation ticket that lets you participate in an event after the live where you receive a postcard from the artist. (The first time I did this was for Do As Infinity's Kimi ga Inai Mirai, back in January. Thankfully, today, it was much warmer. )
So I showed up a couple hours before, got some lunch, bought my copy of the single (Jacket B~) and waited in front of the stage. I was worried at first because there weren't many people, but gradually more and more came. Still, I'm sorry to say, the majority of the audience was really creepy older men. D: D: D: D: D: Poor alan!
Thankfully the rain stopped in time, and though the event was due to start at 5:00 she didn't show up until about 5 minutes before and needed to rehearse. She looked ADORABLE-- had on a white dress (the skirt was slightly ruffled) with a black belt around the middle, bright red pumps, and a huge white flower adornment-thingy in her hair. She apologized for being late and sang the first bit of Koko ni iru for her soundcheck. Once she knew everything was okay, she went back off stage, but the live started about 3 minutes later. So, overall, not too behind schedule.
1. Koko ni iru I love this song so much! It was fun to see everyone bobbing along...the atmosphere would have been better if it were sunny, but, oh well. She said this was her first time performing this song live. 2. Ii hi tabidachi Her vocals on this stunned me into silence. So beautifully performed! 3. Kaze ni mukau hana Omg, the wailing in the beginning...she NAILED it. It's so funny because she has to hold the mike about a foot and a half from her mouth but it's still loads louder than it is when she sings normally into the mike. Thought my eardrums were going to break. :O Overall, I don't like the song any more than I did going into today's event, but hearing it live was nice. 4. Natsukashii Mirai ~longing future~ She told everyone to sing this one along with her and walked out to the edge of the stage, holding the mic out to the audience. I could hear quite a few people singing along by the end of the song! (Though all I could sing along to were the choruses, unfortunately. )
After Natsukashii Mirai, everyone chanted for an encore and she was like, lol u guise, Natsukashii Mirai was the encore~~ But she sang something acapella to appease all the fans...it sounded like it was Tibetan. Whatever it was, it was stunning.
So after the live was the event, and I was the 5th person or so in line. When I walked up to her the first thing she said was (in Japanese), "Where are you from?!" And then our conversation went a little like this: "I'm from America!" "Oh really?!" "Yes, but I've been a fan of yours ever since Ashita e no Sanka." "...wooooo--" (I said this next bit with you guys in mind) "You have lots of fans in other countries and we're all rooting for you!" (And at that point they physically pointed me in the direction of the exit of the stage, lol). The postcard we got is square, and it's a textless version of Jacket A.
No pictures were allowed of the event, but I snuck up to the second level and managed to sneak one picture...I don't know if it even came out well, ahahaha.
I was displeased with how rushed our little chat had been, and since I had been at Rezona for DAI's event, I knew which exit she would be using to leave the venue. After getting a coffee at Starbucks, I found a bench near the exit and sat there nonchalantly waiting for the event to finish...when all was said and done, I think she finished at around 6:20. There were a couple of other fans waiting where I was, but sure enough she came out past us (being guarded closely by staff, smh) but I waved at her and she perked up and waved back and said "See you!" (in English....omg, it was so cute.)
