| So the new Chinese song is out...do you guys like it?
To be honest, I'm quite disappointed because it sounds a bit plain for an alan song and it felt awkward when it sounded like she was about to wail, but didn't...
But as a Cpop song, it's fine. |

| I think it's a bit plain, sounding very C-pop. I like the song just because Alan's singing it. The first half of the song sounds like something from her indie album to be honest. I hope her songs from now on wouldn't sound this generic :(

| Sad, but cpop is usually like this...generic and mostly ballads for certain artists
Kazuhito is working with ELT and other artists he used to compose for |

| hi everyone, i normally don't register myself in a forum like this, simply because i like just to listen music, and don't care much about chit-chat, rumors or anything, but music itself... but! i just couldn't stop myself to express my disappointment about "poor" alan, how they trying to make first a "jpop" then now a "cpop" star, clearly suffocating her and her amazing voice. she's my favorite "voice" and love quite a lot of songs from her, but it's been a long time since she had a really good song unless they let her release her voice and "sing", she will never gonna come back really or get higher in her carrier, she has an amazing voice which met an extremely hard working person who also happen to be very pretty and gentle person. what else we need for a "perfect" star/singer? yet they trying to make her to an another "ayumi" or other "pop" star. i think it's a dead end... simply, because younger generation more after the image of a star, they tend to like stars not just for their voice or the melody of a song, but also how they look, dress, how "cool" they are. we all know how many teenagers go grazy because of a handsome guy (who might not have talent at all, or because of pretty girl who dances perfectly on the stage) if you see this, then it's easy to understand that they sell more albums from a less talented star (i just call them "britney spears-like" ones) than someone like alan. the japanese tryied it, but it didn't work out very well. and business is tough, they don't care much about real art or beauty, in their eyes you can only see the spinning image of the $$$ sings (remember some old cartoons?) just look at the sales record, kuon no kawa, the song where she shines like a real star, and yes it's been sold like nothing else, or just listen some of her tibetan songs, it's something what she meant to sing. alan is elegant, both inside and outside, i'm sure she's never gonna be the perfect so called "pop" star, she is and always has been more, she is connected with music, but you can't possibly expect something great from average material, even if this what the main shopping power (teenagers, again) want, it simply won't last long. there will be always a new face who they can sell easier, and more, but i love artist like alan who have their heart and soul in their voice. back to songs like "kuon no kawa" ok, i know that many people (especially young ones) might not like these styles, and they want more songs like "venus flower" or "panda with candy bear's" but those songs are just average pop songs, even though alan has a charming voice what ever she sings, that can't bring success in alone -as some pointed out here, the new song "i'm back" they like it, because it's alan and we missed her so much- but will this bring her success, just to make some hardcore fun to a few happy moment, i don't think so... ... and this is what makes me really sad, i don't want her to disappear slowly amongs the other "cpop" singers someone please help alan to find a real composer and manager to let her grow and share the joy with all of us once again ps. probably many people will "hate" me for this post, but i hope many understand or even agree with me, and maybe someone, somewhere along the road will tell alan's mangers to try to change thier "doomed" business strategy... |

| I find myself also in agreement with wgabi. Welcome and thanks for a well thought out post. I have felt that Avex's management was just experimenting with alan's style to find out what sells, and not develop alan's unique strengths. I very much like alan because she is alan and not similar to someone else. I hope that alan finds people in the music business that want use the great gifts that alan has. I enjoy songs like Panda, Swear, etc. but I don't consider these truly great "alan songs"! |

| What's sad about the Chinese music industry is that in order for a singer to be rather successful, they need to "fit into the crowd"...
They need to have ordinary songs for people to sing along with in karaoke...
I don't think alan has completely lost herself because there must be a song where she does her Tibetan wail~ This is just a starter song for people to get used to...so I hope alan will show everyone the "true alan" some time in the future! We just need to have patience! |

| I like this song but it is just a typical Cpop karaoke song. Surely not as good as alan's Jpop songs. |

| To be honest I think her golden age was really VOE, but the typical c-pop song isn't just cutting it, just my honest opinion C-pop get very generic at time, it like you heard it before and this song seem to be doing that... |

| I need to restate my previous post. I don't think it represents my true feelings.
I really love Tennyo, it is the first song I heard from alan and my introduction to the Tibetan wail. The only problem is that I can't see alan singing this song in a concert. I think the Tibetan wail must be a strain on her voice, so she can't do it too often in a concert.
I like what might be termed "generic c-pop". I very much enjoy music by Rainie Yang, Jessie Chiang and others. I think that good c-pop songs would be great... if that's what alan wants to sing. I love songs like Red Cliff, Kuon no Kawa, and Ballad, but a whole album or concert of this type of song might be hard to take.
It seemed to me that Avex Trax was experimenting with alan's style around the My Life time to see if they could mold alan into something that would be more popular (not that that's a bad thing). I thought the song "Essence of Me" was a bad direction to take alan, I didn't see any need to synthesize her voice, and it really wasn't a good song. The single cover for "Diamond" scared me, because that just wasn't alan on the cover. I think Avex Trax learned what alan was, and she returned after that... and I was happy again!
Now alan is with a new record label in China. Her new single is a nice song, but it is not a good comeback song. I am afraid that the new label will start experimenting with alan's style and try to emulate someone else. I hope they can build off of alan's strengths, and it's not just the Tibetan wail.
Old statement: I enjoy songs like Panda, Swear, etc. but I don't consider these truly great "alan songs"!
Revised statement: I really like songs like Panda and Swear and I do consider them truly great "alan songs"!
She needs a good mixture of songs for a great concert performance, generic (j/c)-pop, exotic songs, and epic ballads.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her new record label that they can find some really great composers for alan!

| I love this song since Im a fan of Cpop in general, but I must admit its not amazing as it can be. Whole song is like a huge interlude into something that comes too late and its too short in that time.

| I'd say I like it just because it's alan. And I still don't remember how it sounds like. It's really, really bland and generic .___. Ikiru was bland and generic too but there was the "alan" soothing and soft feeling in it, while I get just a little emotional listening to "I'm Back" just because I understand the lyrics... I like the way she sings though.
When I think of it, I keep humming "Ying Hua De Yan Lei". That song was so much better. |

| After listening to Alan Over the cloud remix, I come to believe that she would of made why more profit by sticking to this type of song, then the generic ballad gen. Today people are more into clubs music now, and Over the cloud seem like a expectational choice from rather then the generic song that most Chinese market seem to pull out, I also believe this is why Alan doesn't sell as much as she do because the general population our just to much more into the club song, and especially with the song that she just released is quit disappointing, anyway I don't hate this song, I Like it, but I will never remember who it sound like, Ikiru >>>>>> I'm back even though both of them seem very generic, at least Ikiru have a since of touch to it; sorry even though JJ lin is a great composer it isn't doing any justice to alan voice... Feel free to hate me |
