She is a contestant on the new Hunan singing competition show, 中國最強音 (China's Best Voice...The show haven't aired, so I don't know the actual English title of it yet)
It's the Chinese version of the X-Factor

This show is a combination of amateur singers and professional singers.

The judges are Ziyi Zhang, Eason Chan, Ta-Yu Lo, and Zheng Jun.

alan sang Hu Huan for the first round. Ziyi and Ta-Yu gave her YES, but Eason Chan gave her a NO.
However, with 2 YES, she is going to the next round.

Who gave her a NO??? he's crazy??

He was also the same person that criticized Ayu for lip-syncing during AT07 in Hong Kong.

I see a lot of Chinese fans getting mad over alan's company for doing this saying Yuehua is just making alan take so many steps back.
I have my grudge against Yuehua, but I don't blame them for this.

alan is only known as the singer who sang for RED CLIFF. I can see Yuehua trying to improve from what Avex didn't do before and that is some really big exposure.
It's sad that in the Cpop world, you have to sell yourself out before people see you as a true singer. There are so many talentless singers, but because they're actors...they get to release albums.

I'm excited about this show because finally...we can hear alan not lip-sync in China!
I would like alan to get really big fame, so maybe she can truly make the music she wants.

But all in all, I still hate Yuehua :)

And Zhang Ziyi is a judge, gosh, I haven't kept up with her... this will be so interesting to watch when it's online :) I hope judges don't have a grudge against her because of her heritage and associated singing style (why else could that guy give her a no? I haven't seen the performance yet but I don't imagine she made any mistakes - she's alan! hahaha)

I can't wait for this program to start, that's what I longed for: alan singing a lot, and possibly some songs wich aren't hers as well (I loved so much her version of My Heart Will Go On with that superadorable accent! <3 I dream of alan singing I Will Always Love You!)

Ugh, that made me kind of mad when he gave her a no because singing competitions like this are rarely based on actual technique and whatnot (which are what should be used when judging singing...) like Zhang Ziyi seemed really sweet on the show but does she know about vocals?

Sorry if I sound kinda bratty about it. I sing myself, and alan who is a classically trained vocalist has great technique, great range, great musicality, and imo a beautifullll voice. <3

Also alan looked sad and shocked when Eason gave her a no :(

It was kinda annoying at the beginning how she was interviewed like a beginner, amateur and stuff, it's a good thing they brought the fact she did Red Cliff and Inuyasha to show she has some strong background.

Even if I'm miffed she recieved a no from Eason, I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion lol...

Personally though, I thought this performance of Hu Huan was amazing. And thanks for the translation Pommy; It's nice to see alan still remains so humble and doesn't want to just be known for the tie-in songs she's done, but rather for herself as an artist. :D
